GIRL TALK: face and hair products

So this blog post is about my thoughts of many different products! Please comment and let me know your favorite products too!

My absolute favorite product to use on my face is ST. IVES Apricot Srub! This always leaves my skin super soft and nicely exfoliated. Often I have dry skin that is peeling on the sides of my nose and my forehead-- this is the only product that I have found to smooth out my skin and leaving it glowing with healthy radiance! It is my daily microdermabrasion.

After that, I apply CO Bigelow Facial Moisturizer. I have two, one is extra-light and the other is for 'most skin types'. I use them both pretty equally. Pretty much everything that this brand produces is amazing! You can find this at Bath and Body Works.

Not too much to say about this one, except that it really goes on smoothly and looks natural! love it!

I just discovered this product. It is cheap and it still works well. As long as I use it lightly on my face it looks great. Too much and it makes your face look grainy (is that a word?)

Loreal has this eye shadow that is made for specific eye colors! It really makes your eyes POP and looks great everytime. On the back it has a 1-2-3-4 step process for where to apply each color on the lid. I like it.

Loreal Paris has this amazing mascara! I don't have long lashes naturally, so this really makes me happy! I can apply more to have my lashes look really long, or just a little to keep it modest. The best thing is that taking it off is so easy too. It doesn't smear, it comes off with water in just little strands of black. love this product.

One more CO Bigelow product. spearmint lip gloss. It goes on thick (which I like, and smells/tastes great) I think it is around $6 at Bath and Body Works.

For my hair, this is my favorite conditioner. Brilliant Brunette by John Frieda. Of course if you want to try this there is product for reds and blondes too. I love it because it smells nice, and it leaves my hair with lots of dimension and glow.

This hair serum is the best! (Schwarzkopf Zero Frizz) Well, not the best, but for the price it has great quality! I apply this when my hair is wet or dry. Ideally wet is best. I love it because it makes my hair thicker looking and it is much easier to mould into a hair style that I want. One thing that I sometimes notice is that some of my hair's shine isn't as good when I use this; but that is better than the alternative.... crazy thin static hair.

Sometimes, I like having my hair big and curly! For that I use John Frieda Frizz-Ease line of Dream Curls. What I do is, take my hair one layer at a time (starting with the under-layers) spray this lightly over the section, and then curl it with an iron. This stuff always does the trick. The bottle says to apply to wet hair... but I never get the good results that I do when I apply to dry hair.

Finally the hair spray! TRESemme has great hair spray. Not really a fan of their shampoo and conditioner though. The hair spray is really dry, so it is great to hold those curls lightly in place.

Hope some of this was helpful.. I know that I am always looking for a better product for the price and for the quality. Share what you have learned so we can all try it for ourselves! Thanks!

A Book Review: A New Earth, by Eckhart Tolle

Lesa says it's time I contributed to this blog. The biggest learning experience I'm enjoying right now is reading 'A New Earth', and I wish all could read it.
Hypnosis, Reiki, Emotional Realease Work, -Lesa and I are into some pretty wierd stuff right? Well, those "Holistic" modalities are all related under the surface, and it all comes down to one thing, Consciousness.
I'm not talking about medically conscious or unconscious, I'm talking about awareness, authenticity, spiritual consciousness, -The Light of Christ. The words of inspired non-lds writers call it Consciousness, and they call the 'Natural Man' (Mosiah 3:18), the Ego.
Basically, this is what 'A New Earth' is about, becoming aware of the Ego and its functions, thus transcending it, and increasing our consciousness and light.
Dr. David Hawkins is probably the leading figure who is turning consciousness research into a well documented and convincing study. According to recent consciousness research, about 54% of the people in the U.S. are non-integrous, meaning they are stuck in worldly ego patterns and not yet willing to change, though they may want to. This means 54% of people in the U.S. are not really aware, they are content to keep cycling through negative patterns. Have you ever known people who keep attracting awful, abusive relationships? Or have you ever known people who are angry ALL the time? As if they love to be offended? Or maybe you've known emotional vampires that whimper about 'poor me' incessantly? These are all examples of "non-integrous" people. Maybe you see some of these patterns in yourself? I know I was chronically depressed, even after serving my mission for the church. The point is, healing yourself and transcending the ego causes a ripple-effect, like a pebble dropped into a pond, that ripples across all those you associate with.
I've been reading Dr. David Hawkins books for some time on consciousness research, which I also completely endorse, but 'A New Earth' is the perfect introductory book to consciousness research. If you want to become aware of human dysfunction and increase your own awareness, and perhaps even start your path towards enlightened living, I strongly recommend this book.
For other LDS readers of this blog, this book will enhance your comprehension of the gospel, and provide valuable awareness about your 'Natural Man'. If you desire more happiness in not only your life, but the lives of those around you, if you yearn to surpass your weaknesses, if you consciously and deliberately strive for inner (and outer) peace and happiness, if you are a Truth-Seeker, read this book!
