celebrate summer shopping.

My love for thrift shopping, yard sale-ing, and bargain hunting is growing stronger every time I go. Let me assure everyone that I am very pick about what I buy. I don't buy something because it is a good price! If I did, I would be broke by now! I only buy what I know I will use.

Last weekend Chad and I went to the Scotland Festival and so I had to forego the yard sales in Park City. So to make up for the loss, I stopped by the local thrift store. I don't expect much from thrift stores, so I feel like I got lucky today!
cute summer dress, a pair of cute BKE jeans, and a pair of linen pants. all very cute and new looking!

So the reason that I am blogging about all of this is because I learned something new about the human psychology. Well, and least my own psychology.

I have always tried to take pride in everything that I decide to own. Meaning, take good care of it, love it, use it well, etc. And if those things aren't happening with something I own, then I sell it or give it away. For instance, my wedding dress. I just sold it for a cheap $100. because it is big, and was not being used! :)
Anyway, I thought that items bought at a yard sale would simply be 'not used' in a different house, with a different owner. That is how I use to think of yard sales. Junk being moved around because we can't stand to throw it out ourselves!

But that has not been the case with me. In fact, it seems like the very opposite has happened. I love the things that I get, like, some how it 'came' to me. So... I love it more than if I went and bought it at Pier 1. It is more fun to have because it is like 'buried treasure'!
Also the pressure of buying isn't there as much. Buying what you don't absolutly need at a regular store can lead to buyers remorse! bad feeling to have... especially if it was a lot of money. But with yard sale items, the pressure of "I better absolutely love this item for a LONG time, because I paying huge bucks for it" isnt' there at all. It makes shopping fun again!
happy day.
